SOOOOOOOOOO
Almost 4 months later, I finally got a computer.
A friend of mine had a birthday, and his parents gave him a brand new computer, so he gave me his old one.
It's not that bad of a one, Dual Core 2.0ghz, 1gb ram, 512gb hdd
All I need now is a good video card. So anyone have one?
I'm looking at this or something similar, so anyone got one?
I was recently donated some money, most went to pay bills, but I have a little left I can throw in for S&H.

Alright, well as some of you may know. But probably most of you don't. I am piss poor.
I don't have legit internet or a computer.
I currently use a modified PS2 running Damn Small Linux off a 10gb flash drive and using a jerry rigged wireless antenna to steal the neighbors wifi.
I am finally getting tired of it. Having to wait 3 fucking hours just to compile the simplest of programs.
Not being able to run vb6 or VS10. Or fuck, any good games!
The way I dev right now is by using the PS2 to remote desktop a friends computer in idaho and thats only possible when the internet is strong.
Anyways, last time I talked to Stealth he mentioned I should ask on here for help. I think he may of been joking, but it's worth a try.

What do I have:
VGA Monitor
160GB IDE HDD
Keyboard

What do I need:
Case
MoBo
CPU
RAM
Cables
Mouse

The MoBo is what would decide what else I need.
Anyways, its worth a shot. Anyone with any spare computer parts who are willing to ship em out to me.
The goal is to build a computer capable of running VS10 and some good games!

I have spare ram lying around, and probably a few floating around at work (DDR2 ofc) i'd be able to scramble up.
You paying postage? I'm from Australia.
EDIT: I believe i'd be able to get a processor aswell, although they'd most probably be old pentiums. As for a case, i've got a bunch of them lying around at work aswell. Also what cables?

I'm piss broke, (seriously I have $2.17), so no I can't. I have been trying to get a job for the last 6 months.
But the economy here is so bad, that Stream a call center company that usually hires 40 people a DAY (because its such a horrid job so many people quit a day) has officially stopped hiring! (Everyone is toughing it out because they know there are no other jobs)
Basically this is a 100% donation request.
The average shipping of a single component, save for the case, is usually < $4.00. So basically i'm pulling one of those '$1 from 100 people is $100' things (really cheap for each individual but adds up to something I can't get)

I would like to state something though, please DO NOT feel the pressure to send me anything. I do not NEED any of this. I have a place to stay, food, water, etc... so I am perfectly stable. This is simply a request from a frustrated broke ass geek! :P

The most expensive component to ship would be the case, and depending on the environment you'll set up your rig, the most useless. In my "lab", I had a computer set up with moderate usage for a few months with all the components sprawled out on the desk.

PM me your address and I'll mail you some IDE cables and a mouse, and a Pentium 4 if I can find one. You should add a PSU to the list though - I don't have any.
Swift, Ruby, Objective-C, JavaScript (the good parts)

iPhone Xs Max
MacBook Pro (2019, 15", 6-core i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD)
Lenovo TS140 (Ubuntu, 6TB mirrored boot zpool, Xeon E3-1231, 32GB ECC RAM, RTX 2070)

Hmm, I'm thinking we raise the $ in postage for Matt and myself. I can get you a case, PSU (most probably), RAM, HDD (probably stick with yours though, the ones i've got are kinda shitty now), if you need internal cables, those too, and possibly a processor (not sure how reliable they are).

Well I have a PSU, Mobo, P4 CPU 3.2Ghz, HDD, GFX, DVD drive, while most of it is pretty outdated, you can still play games on it and it will get you by.

Most of it has just been laying around since I have no need for it. Postage is the problem tho, I honestly wouldn't know how to go about it as I have never sent something overseas and something that is fragile.

Postage from Australia to America the size of a computer case with no form of expedited postage would probably be between $20 - $40 (maybe 50, but I doubt it...)

Don't forget a cd/dvd drive >_>

If I can find the money, which is a big if, I can ship an old AMD Athlon 2400+ XP, MSI K7n2 Delta ILSR, and a 1gb stick of OCZ Platinum DDR400, you would just have to obtain the psu/case/gpu and an OS at that point.

Australia's economy must be good Posted Image

If you signup for internet through your phone provider using PPPoE or PPPoA, I can get you a brand new Networking Modem with wireless ;). Other than that, I don't have any decent parts laying around anymore. I'll check with my buddy that works on gov. computers though. He's always getting brand new shit that the government just throws away.

I've got an old Pentium 4, 3.2Ghz, no GFX (friend using it), DVD-R, 1Gb ram (2x512Mb), 120GB HDD. Plus laser mouse and bunch of cords. It random cuts out of power, which I can only assume is a faulty power supply. I countered this by slowly under-clocking it in the bios which helped. The case has a massive dent above the power supply (hitting it works when it won't turn on). So yeah, you'd need to replace the power supply if you want to run it at 3.2Ghz again. I have all the driver and motherboard cd's as well.

Though, I have the same postage issue as the others, as I'm in Australia. I don't mind paying some postage, but it seems 12kg to the USA is about $130 AUD.

Have you attained any parts yet?

0.o now that someone actually posted a number its quite large, thats a lot to get to the US.
Domestic shipping is only ~40 for ~25lbs :P
Anyways, I got a mouse, keyboard, box-o-cables, a Power Supply (well i could find one, there like a dime a dozen).
Though I have been hanging out at a friends house a bunch lately, so I'm specifically looking for a video card (PCI-Ex16) to put in there box cuz theres is crap :P
