This allows a bot to keep track of it's users, their access, flags, and the last time they were seen. What are your thoughts, Eric?

CODE
<users version="1.0">
    <user name="joe">
        <access>1000</access>
        <flags>A</flags>
        <lastseen>102907 10:53:12</lastseen>
    </user>
</users>

XML is a verbose language. This does not make it a bad language; however, it makes it a poor language to store any significant amount of data in. The database would have to be dynamic, allowing for user mailboxes, user grouping, and perhaps even statistics for each and every user having joined the channel. This can quickly make the use of XML detrimental to the overall design, rather than a positive.

I do agree, though. The database is one of the most important aspects of a bot and this makes it definitely worthy of a standardization goal. However, it is also this aspect that makes it the most difficult to standardize.

It's unlikely that this will be standardized. Each bot serves its own purpose in its own way. Even making a conversion tool is sometimes difficult. I think this is best left alone. It's usually not a big problem, anyway.
